About Us

We are an organization of Catholic women called The Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA). Our motto is “Unity and Charity”. We are a service organization. But we are also  more than that. We strive to serve our world, our country, our communities, and our Church  through hands-on work and prayer. We also serve to provide opportunities for spiritual  growth for our members and the public.

Our organization came to life in 1903 in Utica, New York. Since that time, we have grown to  be one of the largest organizations of Catholic women in the world.

Nebraska Catholic women are invited to join the CDA in many communities. Currently, there  34 local groups called Courts, with a membership of over 2,000 women. Most of our Courts  have their own Chaplain.

Our first Court was established in 1907 in McCook, Nebraska, just 25 years after the town was  platted. It was Court 77, Granada. Our most recent Court, 2760 Santa Maria, was established  in Grand Island in 2019.

Most Courts meet once a month for a minimum of 9 meetings per year. All Catholic women  18 years and over can belong.

Could your community use a Catholic Daughters of the Americas court? We think so. Ask us how.
Nebraska CDA About Us Mary
CDA Prayer
Heavenly Father, as we venture into growing our membership, we come before You asking for Your guidance, wisdom and support. Fill us with your grace, Lord God, as we make contact with others. Remind us that all we do, all that we accomplish, is for the pursuit of truth for the greater glory of your kingdom, and for the service of humanity. Guide our hearts…our words…our actions, to be a shining light for all to see. May the face of Christ shine through. We ask Your Mother, our patroness, by her powerful intercession, to be with us as we witness to others. We ask all these things in Your most Holy name. Amen.

Our Purpose
The purpose of the organization are to participate in the religious, charitable, and  educational Apostolates of the Church. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas engages in  creative and spiritual programs which provide its members with the opportunity to develop their God-given talents in meaningful ways that positively influence the welfare of the Church and all people throughout the world.
Prayer for Priests
Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.
Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.
Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.
Set their souls on fire with love for your people.
Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength
they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.
Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.
Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.
Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.
Amen.
